DC Property Owners Can Now Apply for the Homestead Deduction and Senior Citizen/ Disabled Property Tax Relief Electronically

The Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) announced today that District property owners can now apply for the Homestead Deduction and Senior Citizen/Disabled Property Tax Relief (ASD-100) electronically. The exemptions provide eligible property owners significant tax relief that can reduce their tax liability.

The interactive system, which can be found at MyTax.DC.gov, walks property owners through the qualifications, application process, and allows them to attach documentation to support the application. Once a completed application has been submitted, a confirmation will be sent to the email address provided. Property owners will have the option of printing the completed application prior to final submission for their records.

Additionally, property owners who no longer qualify for the Homestead Deduction and Senior Citizen/Disabled Property Tax Relief, and wish to cancel the deductions can do so electronically by completing form ASD-105 at MyTax.DC.gov.

Property owners who have questions about the deductions should call OTR’s Customer Service Center Service at 202-727-4TAX (4829) or email the Homestead Unit at [email protected] .
